JOANNA TURLEJ is a watercolour artist. She graduated from the Ontario College of Art and Design (O.C.A.D.) in Toronto, ON. with the honours degree in art and design and George A. Reid Award of Excellence.

Besides working as a graphic designer in her own business for more than 20 years, she continued working in fine arts. She explored different media, from weaving tapestry, painting posters with anilines and painting on silk with French dies to watercolours.

“I enjoy playing with fluidity of paint and vibrant transparency of colour. It is challenging and inspiring”, she explains.

“Mountains, forests, lakes and rolling hills is what gives me tranquility and comfort. Painting landscapes is what I like the most”, says Joanna. She grew up in Zakopane, a small resort town in mountainous region of southern Poland. This was where the seeds of creativity have been planted under the guidance of her father, who was also an artist and an art professor with various art schools.

Most recently in 2005, Joanna took a workshop in Main, USA with Skip Lawrence, renown American watercolour artist.
