Ray Scott

Ray Scott has taken classes in life drawing and portraiture at Central Technical School, College of Art in Toronto and Visual Arts Mississauga from 1974 to 1983.

Ray started to study sculpture in 1983 under the direction of Augustin Filipovic (a member of the Royal Academy) at the Mississauga Sculpture Studio and has continued to be a member of this studio since that time.

He has had sculptures selected for the Visual Arts Mississauga juried show in 1992, 1995, 1997, and 2002 and continues to participate in group shows with the Mississauga Sculpture Studio each year.

Ray has also exhibited his works as part of the Lakeshore Art Trail in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005.

The Mississauga Arts Council selected Ray’s sculptures for their juried show in 2002, 2003 and 2005. These sculptures were displayed at the Novo Hotel in Mississauga.

He has also exhibited his sculptures at the Canadian Opera Volunteer Committee Art Sale at the Hummingbird Centre in Toronto in 2001, 2002, 2003 & 2005.

He has had sculpture accepted by the Colour and Form Society for their juried show in 2003, 2004 and 2005 and had sculpture accepted by the Oakville Arts Council for their juried show in 2003 and has exhibited his works at the Learning Club & Fine Art Gallery in Streetsville in 2003, 2004 & 2005.

In July of 2005 he was commissioned to create a sculpture which was presented to the recipient of the Laurie Pallett Award at the 2005 Mississauga Arts Awards ceremony.

He has had an art medals accepted for the Medallic Art Society (MASC) show at the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa, the MASC show at the Sculptors Society of Canada and has shown a medal at the Art Medal World Congress (FIDEM XXIX) in Portugal in 2004.

His work tends toward the figurative with a major interest in portraiture and the human figure. Currently the world of abstract sculpture is being explored.Ray is a member of the Mississauga Sculpture Studio, Mississauga Arts Council, Visual Arts Mississauga, Colour and Form Society and the Medallic Art society of Canada. He continues to exhibit with the Colour & Form Society.
